New trends in kitchen decoration

The new trends in kitchen decoration are a reflection of the unpredictable times we’ve recently lived: our home became a refuge, an office, a gym, a pastry shop, a school or anything that we could not access by then. Therefore, such shocking months during confinement, have left their mark on decoration trends.

Since we filled our house with plants to feel closer to nature… what else could we do, inspired by those difficult times? Let’s take a journey along the new trends in kitchen decoration.

After many weeks staying home, we realized all the potential that our kitchen can achieve.  Most times it can be exploited with a simple change of color.

In that sense, grey it’s an elegant, neutral color not easy to get tired of – so it becomes the winning option.

Also beige tones – stone or greige colour- is another easy and long-lasting option too. It hardly goes out of style – and very easy to combine.

White tones work quite similar: they provide more luminosity in rooms with less outdoor lights.

Or black: combined in rooms with a lot of sunlight in a radical contrast to white it’s able to surprise and delight for many years.

Terrazzo is back, also for kitchens! Fortunately, it’s a trend to misplace the materials from their traditional place. Therefore, you can play with terrazo on kitchen walls to bring colours and surprise.

Another top trend are “clean” surfaces: since a kitchen is a workplace, its simplicity for clearing becomes an inspiration.

On the other hand, if we connect with the nostalgia for nature, the eco friendly, sustainable and “raw” materials achieve their starring role in the kitchen. Recycled materials – or those obtained in a sustainable process – become an unstoppable trend that makes our kitchen full of values.

New trends set kitchens as connected spaces, never isolated from the rest of the house: integrated kitchens get more relevance than ever before. After a period where families spent more time together developing diverse activities, kitchen has become a central point.

Work tables or breakfast areas, became allies of stoves and ovens. Household appliances such as refrigerators and dishwashers opt for the matt metal finish, as an extension of the cleaning and versatility trend.

The storage space is camouflaged and integrated with the walls through panels of materials such as natural or lacquered wood in neutral tones. And combined with glass or steel shelves. The light points are also integrated into panels and ceilings, illuminating in a discreet but strategic mode.

In addition, trends such as minimalism (compatible with exuberant flowerpots) once again remind us that the true soul of kitchens are its inhabitants, the aromas and the conversations that take place there.

In short, the practicality and timeless beauty of a kitchen with striking materials and neutral tones is a good base to build the post-confinement trend. We know that the prominence that this part of the house has gained will remain, so we bet on a real wave of renovation.
